Peace through Grace & Courtesy

From their first day in the classroom, students at Village Montessori learn lessons of Grace and Courtesy, including how to interrupt someone respectfully, using calm and careful walking feet, watching another's work without interrupting, how to make an activity beautiful and ready for the next person, and much more.  These lessons in being a member of a respectful community are imbedded throughout the classroom, and are reinforced throughout the day.

Additionally, we use the Montessori Peace Curriculum Made Simple, by Judy Feeney to supplement these everyday lessons of respectful community. This curriculum offers a year of active conflict resolution as well as peace work drawn from environmental studies, music, cultural activities of Native American traditions and storytelling, and children’s books to guide children in the continuing path toward Peace.
